Stuff Aprille Says

Aprille-isms to make you go “hmmmmm…”

  • People don’t care so much about what life means…they care about what life FEELS LIKE. Passionate. Joyful. Thrilling. Fulfilling.  THAT’S what people want more than meaning.
  • There’s a huge difference between hiring someone and positioning them for success.
  • If you want to change the face of a nation, change the economic status of women.
  • The reason we’re STILL talking about closing the gaps for women in business is because most companies are giving lip service instead of truly DOING SOMETHING to change it – it takes more than a slogan or an internal SIG so stop rolling your eyes and do something that causes real change.
  • If you choose to do nothing about where you are and how it is, that’s completely ok. Just know that you simultaneously forfeit the right to bi**h about it.
  • You’re not making mistakes in your business because you’re stupid. You’re making mistakes in business because you’re desperate. Create a Vision. Have a Plan. Take Action.
  • If you can’t walk away from your business for a month and still have it run effeciently and make a profit, you’ve got a JOB, not a business.
  • If you can’t pay your bills, support your family and live with dignity, you’ve got a HOBBY, not a business.
  • You need to become irrelevant in your company to have a real business.
  • Stop wearing “busyness” as a badge of honor. Busyness ≠ business.
  • Change your attitude. Love what you do. Do your best. Treat everyone with respect. Your life will change.
  • People don’t produce results because they CAN. They produce results because they’re INTERESTED and they’re WILLING. (p.s. You’re one of those people too.)
  • The HAP Method is not a Business Plan that will have you win. Because Hoping And Praying that it all works out is the best way to guarantee it won’t. Create a Vision. Have a Plan. Take Action.
  • When we thrive in our business and love our life, we raise empowered children.
  • When a fish gets sick you treat the WATER not the fish! How’s the water you’re swimming in?
  • It’s never, ever, ever, ever, ever about the money. It’s about whether what we’re going to GET OUT of what we’re buying is WORTH the money. Sell your VALUE not your stuff!
  • Family First.
  • If you’re really stuck in drama, you need BIGGER problems! Get BIGGER problems to tackle & the drama goes away. (Taken from my own experience.)
  • Absoflutely!
  • When a woman is powerful, confident, self expressed and produces results, THAT’S what you call “Sexy”.  Every woman wants to be that.  Every woman innately has that.  She just needs to harness it and live it out loud.
  • Women are genetically predisposed to be Masters of multi-tasking.
  • Women don’t “just” work. They create change. They make a lasting difference. It starts with one woman yet goes way beyond her, for generations.
  • When you think you’ve got nothing else to give, give just a little more. You’ll amaze yourself and come to know yourself as someone
    who C-A-N.
  • Mistakes are nothing to fear. I’ve often learned so much from mine. It’s the reason for many of my successes.
  • If it’s stupid but it works, it isn’t really stupid, is it? Do what works.
  • Failure is never an option. (okay maybe someone else said it first, but I say it a lot!)
  • You’ll always be “fine”.  What are you willing to do to be EXTRAORDINARY?
  • Perfect is overrated. IMPERFECT action gets you MUCH closer to what you truly want to achieve. Take it from a reforming perfectionist!!
  • “Your actions matter. It’s your job to always set the example of what’s right.” ~”Big Mike” Trupiano (okay my father said this, however, I’ve always taken the job seriously.)
  • Don’t believe everything you think.
  • Out of every crisis comes a chance to be reborn.
  • Envy people for who they are not what they have.
  • Accept the fact that you must make mistakes.  Revel in the fact that you aren’t obliged to repeat them.
  • Be grateful that you are free to love and accept others in their greatness and appreciate that you needn’t compare yourself to them or attempt to “measure up” to them…for you are unique, perfect exactly the way you were created to be.
  • Being a woman in leadership is not always about leading people where they WANT to go instead about leading them where they NEED to go – for the good of themselves and the good of those whose lives they touch.
  • There’s no wrong way to do the “right thing” and no right way to do the “wrong thing”.  Even though sometimes it’s more costly, time consuming or uncomfortable, do the right things and your life and business will always flourish in ways you never expected.
  • People want an amazing future. As a Leader, SHOW THEM POSSIBILITY. People want to succeed.  As a Leader, HELP THEM WIN.
  • Spend less time planning and more time DOing. Having a plan is critical. TALKING about the plan is just that – talk. Leaders must be in action. Doesn’t mean you have to be the one to do it all yourself…but you must be the one to make sure it’s all getting done. And if need be, you must be ready to roll up your sleeves and stand alongside your people to do it.
  • Keep your promises.  Honor your word.  It’s part of your Legacy.
  • Women don’t need limits, they need unpredictable challenges to stretch the limits.
  • The most powerful moment is when you see that you own both the breakthroughs AND the breakdowns. Breakdowns aren’t your parents’ fault, your client’s fault, your co-worker’s fault or anyone else’s fault. In that moment, you will understand that YOU CONTROL YOUR FUTURE and that YOU CREATE YOUR DESTINY.
  • Circumstances are typically beyond your control. How you react is completely under your control…and how you react is a natural expression of who you are. So who are you RIGHT NOW in this circumstance?
  • It’s a dangerous myth that Leaders are born. Leaders are developed! Leadership skills are not necessarily innate. They can be learned, absorbed, honed. Don’t let this fallacy hold you back from the destiny for which you were put here, the difference you were intended to make.
  • Everything I know (and teach) about Leadership, I learned from my father. Growing up, I saw and heard my father living out the things that leadership “gurus” write about in their books.
  • Show, rather than tell, what you want people to know and remember about you.
  • I always wondered why I tend to take the more challenging, unpaved, rockier path. Then I realized my overpowering need to grow outweighs my silent wish to have things be “easy”. I need to be pushed beyond what I can readily see, stretched out of my comfort in order to redefine it and make it my own. I guess I’m doin’ it exactly the way I intend.
  • We no longer live in a world where business, life and faith are separate. Truth bet told, we need our faith more than ever to run our business and our life.
